Work health and safety

Federal, State and Territory governments all have work health and safety legislation.
Compliance with WHS legislation is mandatory and codes of practice provide employers with specific guidance in how to minimise the major areas of risk in business.
Consultation between employers and employees is generally required under WHS legislation, and both (employers and employees) have responsibilities to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Alcohol and other drugs

NSW WorkCover has an alcohol and other drugs in the workplace guide and fact sheet to assist with establishing a policy to manage alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.
ASIAL can customise industry-specific drug and alcohol policies, contact ASIAL for these. ASIAL eLearning has online training to assist members and their employees to meet their legislative responsibilities in this important workplace issue. Go to the ASIAL Store for more.
